Gerber Chapel is located in the historic downtown of old Webster Groves. The colonial-style home dates to 1865 and was the home of Nathan Allen. In the 1930s the McLaughlin family converted the house from a private residence to a combined residence and funeral home. The funeral home was later purchased by Sam Mittleberg. In 1961 Don Gerber purchased the funeral home from Mr. Mittleberg, and the funeral home was named Gerber Chapel. In the early 1970s, Mr. Gerber purchased the Parker-Aldrich Funeral home located next door to Gerber Chapel and combined the two funeral homes. Shortly after the purchase of Parker-Aldridge, Mr. Gerber sold that building and expanded the historic home to the facilities we have today. The addition included a beautiful chapel, new visitation room, conference room and selection area.
